Wilpon Not Happy, Willie On The Hot Seat

Metsblog.com has 2 great articles on the man we hate Willie Randolph. First Jeff Wilpon

“I’m disappointed with the way the team is performing overall, and that’s everyone, top to bottom. I’m disappointed in Omar, Willie, the players…that’s everyone. We shouldn’t be in this position. But we are. We’ve got to fight our way out and pull this out.”

Stark writes…
“If this season ends badly — especially if it ends with the Mets’ becoming the first team since 1938 to blow a seven-game lead in September — there is absolutely going to be talk about whether it’s the manager’s fault. And not just on your car radio.”
Stark gives Randolph 25-1 odds that he won’t be back.

~Thank you Wilpon not down playing it, he could of just not said what he was thinking like "Hey man were not playing great but I think we can play better" who does that sound like? He said exactly what was on his mind and he deserves to he pays better then $120 mil for this team to be the best it can, and right now with Randolph they aren't.

If the Mets don't win it all I really don't think Randolph will be back.

Well, man, as much as I'd like to agree with you, Wilpon IS calling out everyone - Omar, the team, Willie. Although Willie is an easy scapegoat, we have to be fair - Omar made some questionable moves this year that didn't work out. Not that I agree with that logic, but Omar has done more good than harm since being GM, so depending on a.) how we end up this year and b.) how he improves the team for the future, the jury is still out.

That's not to say, Willie isn't on the hot seat deservedly. GM's get ranked on their position over time not just one year...Managers are generally year to year. personally, I think Willie overstayed his welcome in 2005.
